HOOK
Based on the principles of universal design, Bess has aimed to create clothing that can be used by both people with and without disabilities. The garments are designed with the needs of seated individuals in mind—needs that are not exclusive to wheelchair users but also apply to other groups in society who spend most of their day sitting.
The zipper pull is 3D-printed from recycled plastic and shaped to allow people with disabilities, impairments, or weak fine motor skills to easily open and close the jacket independently.
Snap buttons enable the transformation of the jacket and skirt, allowing for different appearances depending on the wearer. The back of the skirt can be unfolded so that the fabric wraps around the seated body, ensuring comfort for extended periods. The materials used include organic cotton poplin and wool.
The bags are designed to be attached to a wheelchair, with extra compartments on the back for storing valuable items. The elongated bag is specifically shaped to hold an extra wheelchair battery. For those who walk, the bags can also be "hooked on," allowing the user to move freely with their arms and upper body. Made of wool, the bags provide warmth to the body.
